ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Celebrates Homecoming: For ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ and Families 2021
ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ was excited to welcome families and alumni back to campus for Homecoming: For ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ and Families this past weekend! This year’s Homecoming spanned three days, with events held both virtually and on our fields in accordance with COVID-19 safety protocols and guidelines. The beautiful fall weekend was full of Bulldog spirit as the Dean community came together to celebrate.
We kicked off the weekend on Friday afternoon with a virtual 5K for Bulldogs to participate in throughout the weekend and the entire month of October. Later that day, the women’s field hockey team took on Colby-Sawyer College before ultimately falling 7-0, while women’s volleyball faced defeat against Elms College with a final score of 3-0.
Saturday’s events started bright and early with a virtual yoga and meditation session, led by Katie Fernandes ’10 ’12, and a historic tour of campus, led by Dr. Rob Lawson, professor of History. Over at Grant Field, both former and current players competed against each other in the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Lacrosse Game, a beloved tradition of the weekend.
At the Longley Athletic Complex, students, families and alumni enjoyed a game-day cookout and participated in fun activities for all ages at the Bulldog Fan Zone. A flash mob of students in the School of the Arts and Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance surprised fans and put on an exciting performance just before the kick-off of the football game.
The ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ football team took on MIT and played a tough game before being defeated 27-0. The Thomas “Butchie” Williams '75 Award for Most Valuable Player was presented to Desmond Dias ’23 for having the most impact on the game. Fans also enjoyed halftime performances by the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ performance teams.
The weekend concluded on Sunday with the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ and Franklin Rotary Car Show, where the Campus Center Parking Lot filled with antique, custom, classic, street rod, motorcycles, muscle and electric cars. Both the men’s soccer and women’s soccer teams competed against Anna Maria College; women’s soccer came out on top with a 3-0 victory, while men’s soccer fell 3-1.
It was wonderful to see our Bulldogs together again – thank you all for another successful Homecoming!
